Dear God

Seems like in this world we're not real good at understanding that we are to be connected to one another. You keep trying to tell us over and over again that we should love one another treat each others as if we are brothers and sisters. Yet in response we look at each other, not only trying see how were different from each other, but how we can also tear each other apart. I ask that you please give us the grace this day so that we may move forward, see each other, what we have in common so we will love each other as family so that we can build each other up and make this world better place.

In Jesus Christ name I pray amen.

Genesis 2:18-24

The LORD God said: "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him." So the LORD God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called each of them would be its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of the air, and all wild animals; but none proved to be the suitable partner for the man. So the LORD God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The LORD God then built up into a woman the rib that he had taken from the man. When he brought her to the man, the man said: "This one, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; this one shall be called 'woman,' for out of 'her man' this one has been taken." That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one flesh.

As usual there is a lot here that I could talk about and unpack. I can remember a time in recent history when we could talk about marriage and not be apprehensive. In today's culture bringing up a subject like marriage is a hot button issue. In my opinion marriage has been redefined and reshaped be something that it is not. But all that aside I read these lines of scripture and my heart swells. I cannot express to you in words how grateful I am for my wife. Firme she is like my northern star, she is a gift from God and I treasure her more than anything else in the entire world. I'll be honest, I didn't feel this way when I married her. I have grown so much since then, I often reflect and laugh at myself. When I read these lines of scripture I also realize that I should not take for granted my wife. God allowed Adam search far and wide for a suitable partner when he knew he would find none. I need to be cognizant of the fact that my wife is the true Best helper for me, that she is a gift from God and I should treasure her always. Now not a woman, but looking at these lines from a woman's point of view I would feel oh so special. To realize that I have been made with purpose in the image and likeness of God would make me feel oh so beautiful powerful and wonderful. Men and women are made for each other they are the two halves that represent God. Is not just man alone nor is it just women alone that represents God in its totality. And in that idea that concept we should be able to come together as a people and realize all of our importance, and that through and with each other and with God's grace will we only be able to make this world the kind of place that God calls it to be with His grace and help.

Hebrews 2:9-11

Brothers and sisters: He "for a little while" was made "lower than the angels, " that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting that he, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many children to glory, should make the leader to their salvation perfect through suffering. He who consecrates and those who are being consecrated all have one origin. Therefore, he is not ashamed to call them “brothers.”

When I read these lines I feel so special. God lowered himself to have communion with me. Granted I was not alive during Jesus's time, but as a member of humanity it still makes me feel very special. So much in this world is taken for granted. Even our Lord and Savior is often taken for granted, so much so, that many do not even believe that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior. Yeah through all of this God is calling us home, he is calling us to be members of his family. He loves us and desires us deeply. Amazingly our greatest gift is our free will. We get to choose, we get to decide if we want to love God back. We are not mere animals that live by instinct. We have free will, a logical mind and the intellect to choose how we feel about anything. God is waiting to meet you and me every single day. Will we go out to meet him?

Mk 10:2-16

The Pharisees approached Jesus and asked, "Is it lawful for a husband to divorce his wife?" They were testing him. He said to them in reply, "What did Moses command you?" They replied, "Moses permitted a husband to write a bill of divorce and dismiss her." But Jesus told them, "Because of the hardness of your hearts he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate." In the house the disciples again questioned Jesus about this. He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery." And people were bringing children to him that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, "Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it." Then he embraced them and blessed them, placing his hands on them.

I find it interesting that in my recent readings I've seen children come up a few times now. When God speaks you know it is important. And here again he speaks of children and how we must act and love like children. Yet all too often we let our big heads and our big minds getting in the way of our hearts, our eyes and our ears. Hear God is telling us that marriage is so much simpler than we make it to be. He is telling us that we should be careful who we choose for mate, and that once we have chosen our mate we should love them with all of our mind, body, soul, heart and never give up on them. I could be wrong but it seems as if we live in a throwaway culture. It seems like as soon as something no longer has a purpose for us we throw it away. Unfortunately it seems we do this with our spouses as well. I am guilty just as the next I'm not appreciating my spouse and realizing at all times that they are a gift from God. One of the best qualities of my spouse is that she has the ability to speak God's will in my life. Being a Christian woman she is in tune with God's will often, and she does me well by sharing his thoughts and word with me and when necessary humbling me so that I may come back to his will. I work effortlessly to be in tune with God as well so that I may do the same for her. By no means is our marriage perfect. We both still have so much to learn. But the beautiful thing about God's plan is that he's given us each other. I don't need you I have my wife it through my wife and our relationship with Christ I have access to God on a daily basis. For that I'm so very grateful. When I'm on my "A game" I am moving through my day and constantly looking to see how I can serve my wife and my children, for that's what God calls me to do. I finally now realize as I get older that I am to regress, that I am to love simply as a child. I'm to love all that I meet with all of my heart and I am to love God the same. Through this, and only true this, will I find peace and happiness. For happiness comes out of love and love comes out of service to others. I can buy all the fancy things with flashing lights, dials, knobs and gauges. I can buy tech that is on the cutting edge of modern society, but still nothing will bring me as much joy as simply loving all those around me and loving God with all my heart.

And that's all I got to say about that.
